Navigating the Draft GSPs

The Draft GSPs for the Madera and Chowchilla Subbasins are long and complex.

Although this level of detail is required to comply with SGMA, reading these plans is daunting.

This chapter-by-chapter overview of Draft GSPs will help you focus on what matters to you.

  • Review the Executive Summary for the big picture.

  • If you want to know how much water is available, focus on the water budget in Chapter 2 (and appendices).

  • Chapter 3 will help you understand how sustainability is defined and measured.

  • The projects and actions planned to bring the subbasin into balance are explained in Chapter 4, and how much that will cost is in Chapter 5.
