CHAPTER 3 SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT CRITERIA Chapter 3 establishes the subbasin's sustainability goal (Section 3.1), as well as measurable objectives (Section 3.2), minimum thresholds (Section 3.3), and undesirable results (Section 3.4) for each sustainability indicator. Section 3.5 describes the monitoring network proposed in the GSP to verify progress on the path to sustainability.

Sustainability Indicators are the 6 factors that must be considered in the GSP to avoid "undesirable results" impacting:
  • Groundwater levels

  • Groundwater storage

  • Seawater intrusion

  • Water quality

  • Subsidence

  • Interconnected surface water

Table 3-8 in both Madera GSP Chapter 3 and Chowchilla GSP Chapter 3 summarizes how these pieces fit together.
